
A Poetry Day dedicated to the anniversary of poet, thinker, and diplomat Olzhas Suleimenov was held at AlmaU Open Library.
The honored guests of the event were Lyudmila Prus — Scientific Secretary of the International Anti-Nuclear Movement “Nevada–Semipalatinsk,” public figure, and guardian of the movement’s archival heritage, as well as Zaituna Zhandosova — lawyer, journalist, corresponding member of the International Informatization Academy (IAI), author of scientific publications, and public figure.
As part of the event, the winners of the poetry reading contest were announced:
1st place — Elena Koroleva @hkoroleva
2nd place — Meduza Gargona @medyza_gargona90
3rd place — Roza Abkeyeva @abkeyevarozabaimbetova and Safiya Kamaridenova @sophie_mophieeee, a student of Gymnasium No. 35.
The Audience Choice Award was presented to Karolina Pak @school_lyceum48 and Alfiya Shakurova @alfiyashavkatovna. The winners received memorable prizes, including AlmaU merchandise and books by Olzhas Suleimenov.
Telman Ali @alishkatut, Tatyana Naurazalina @naurnach, Zaituna Zhandosova @zaitunajandossova, and Yelnar Kaysarov from Gymnasium No. 18 @baidalis received special recognition from the jury.
A special part of the event was the open microphone session, where Georgy Kornilov performed a song based on the poetry of Olzhas Suleimenov, while Alisa Kalmykova @shefikafrompsichorodok recited one of his poems. Other participants also shared their favorite works by the poet, creating a truly warm and inspiring atmosphere.
